I am not sure when my breastfeeding journey will end and I wanted to have something that I could treasure forever to symbolise me and my baby’s journey, and that’s when I started to enquire about keepsake jewellery made with your own breastmilk.
For some people they will not understand this at all, only those who have breastfed will truly understand the meaning behind having their precious milk transformed into a piece of jewellery whether it be a ring, pendent or necklace, it is a memento of a very special time in our lives that is irreplaceable.
Once I started looking for reputable companies I was still quite wary as to whether they would be using my own milk and I did worry at the start as to how genuine some places could be. But then as I researched I discovered that these unique businesses did this all the time and even made jewellery with lockets of hair, cremation ashes of lost loved ones and I knew that I would be taken good care off.
Having looked through so many beautiful photos of the end results of different types of jewellery from several different websites who specialised in breastmilk jewellery, I just felt that Rejewelled was the right fit for me. Tracey the owner and Mic her assistant from the very start where so friendly and helpful and worked with me to find the perfect pendent and design. I had seen a few beautiful pieces she had done previously and wanted to have my piece designed a little similar but with a few different details.
Tracey was so understanding and sourced several caps and chains until we got just what I was looking for. Having sent lots of photos for me to chose from, in the end I went for a 1.6cm globe with a little shimmer of glitter, a beautiful lace type cap and a 24″ silver chain. All pieces that are made are individually priced and Tracey will work with everyone to source and find the best products and within the price range for each individual person.
Sending my milk to Tracey was super easy and she kept me informed of when it arrived and each stage of production. Now some people will be thinking how on earth does breastmilk be turned into a piece of jewellery? This is of course a trade secret but rest assured it is preserved in such a way that the milk will never go off, never smell and it is set in a resin and goes through many processes to make it into a stunning piece of timeless jewellery. The process itself takes around 6-8 weeks, however Tracey or Mic will keep you updated on any timescales. Tracey who is a nursing mum herself understands how precious each individual persons milk is and every single inclusion is very carefully labelled throughout every stage and it is a process that cannot be rushed.
When my beautiful necklace arrived it was wrapped up in lovely pink tissue in a lovely white box along with a lollipop and sample of Lansinoh Lanolin cream which is a lovely touch and very thoughtful. Anyone who is looking or thinking of preserving some of their milk and having it made into a unique keepsake should contact Tracey at Rejewelled. Her website is www.rejewelled.co.uk and she can also be found on Facebook by searching for rejewelleduk.
The end result I am sure you will agree is absolutely stunning. I couldn’t even imagine how beautiful the piece would be until I got it. The photos do not even do the necklace justice. When the light hits the pendent the shimmer and glitter is breath taking. I have had so many compliments when I wear it and people are absolutely astonished when they hear that it is made from my own breastmilk. Some even presumed I have a one off piece made by Pandora. Yes I do have a one off piece, but its not made by Pandora. Its made from me…….
