Contouring – It either confuses or scares the life out of most people, but believe me it is a lot easier than you think.
For those of you who do not know what contouring is, it is shadowing and highlighting to define and shape your features in the most flattering of ways. The aim is to accentuate and enhance your features and give the appearance of killer cheekbones, a slimmer nose and overall a more flawless face.
There are believe it or not just 5 easy steps! and here I will take you through each step.
There are so many products on the market it can be hard to know which to choose from, but the SOSU Complete Contour Palette by Suzanne Jackson has everything you need to get started. Containing concealer, highlighter and setting powder you have all the required products in one palette.
The palette itself contains 3 cream shades, 1 cream highlighter and two powders for setting and contouring if you decide you prefer to go over the cream contour for extra definition, but more on that later.
So let’s get started. First thing you need to do is apply your normal moisturizer, primer and foundation. Only don’t set with powder!! You want to make sure you start your contouring directly after applying your foundation.
Step 1: Once your foundation is in place take Shade 1 from your SOSU palette and fan up into the centre of your forehead and then continue down the centre of your nose as you can see in the photo. Then you want to apply some underneath both eyes, centre of your chin (make sort of a W with it) and then either side of your mouth above your lips. The concealer tone has been designed to reflect the light beautifully and by applying the concealer it will make the areas you want to stand out.
Step 2: Take either Shade 2 or 4 depending on your skin tone. Then apply this across the top of your forehead, underneath your cheekbones (start from your ear), along either side of your nose to create the illusion of a slimmer nose and then under your jawline to re-shape.
Step 3: You now want to blend everything in by either using a makeup sponge (along the lines of a beauty blender or similar shaped sponge) or a brush.
Step 4: Take shade 5 which is an iridescent highlighter and this should be applied to the tips of your cheekbones, above your brows, along the cupids bow and the top of your nose for a dewy finish.
Step 5: Use shade 3 to set the lighter concealer and use shade 6 to set your darker contour. If you prefer to contour using a powder until you get the hang of it use Shade 6 to achieve this.
voila! there you have it, you’ve got those supermodel cheekbones in minutes.
