Let’s face it everyone would love to knock a few years off their face and the only way to achieve this is to start a good skincare routine.
Setting aside at least one day a week to cleanse, exfoliate and apply a good face mask will do wonders for your skin. I have made Sunday my weekly skincare pampering ritual. Here are some of my favourite tried and tested products.
Before you start make sure you have removed all traces of makeup and cleansed your face. I love at the minute Le Nettoyant Purete by Absolution as it is fantastic for reducing redness which I do suffer from and also tightens the skin.
Available from Birchbox and Amazon, £26 for 125 mls.
Once my face is all cleansed I use a sheet mask which is radically increasing in popularity. The purpose of these masks are to rehydrate your skin and revitalise. They super infuse hydrating serums and hyaluronic acid to make your skin smoother and healthier. They are so quick and easy to use and remove. My favourite two so far are below.
Moisture Bomb Tissue Mask by Garnier, £2.50
Balancing Sheet Mask, Janna.co.uk £3
When you have a little more time applying a cream mask onto the skin or a peeling one really helps remove all the build up of dead skin cells, blackheads, tightens pores and deep cleanses the skin. I have been using some from Superdrug which I have been really impressed with especially the Seaweed Peel-off Mask and Dead Sea Purifying Clay Mask. Just make sure when you are applying a peel off mask not to apply it to the delicate eye area. I also have really loved using the Powermud Dual Cleanse by GLAMGLOW.
Both 99p from Superdrug
This is the Dead Sea Purifying Clay Mask from Superdrug
This is the Black Seaweed Peel-Off Mask also by Superdrug and Tarte’s Pack Your Bags eye masks.
Powermud Dual Cleanse Treatment by GLAMGLOW, £14
Now back to the delicate eye area. Everyone suffers from puffy eyes and dark circles at some point and the best way to get rid of those bags is to literally send them packing and Tarte Cosmetics cleverly named masks do just that. A cheaper alternative is Superdrug’s Hydrogel Eye Patches which are very soothing and help brighten the under eye area too.
Pack Your Bags Eye Masks, Tarte £18
Refreshing Hydrogel Eye Patches, Superdrug, £1,49
Now that you have applied your mask you want to let that work its magic for around 15-20 minutes and then concentrate on your body. Using a good body scrub will help get rid of dead skin cells, help tone skin, remove any remains of patchy stubborn fake tan and make your skin so soft and smooth and ready for your next tan application. Here are some of my favourite body scrubs.
Clockwise from top left: Sakura Scrub by Rituals, £19.50; Flake Away by Soap and Glory, £8; Raspberry Body Scrub by Mario Badesc, £15 available from Beauty Bay; The Sanctuary’s Spa Salt Scrub, £12.
Last but not least you need to keep those locks rehydrated and I also apply a hair mask once a week to my hair. I’m loving the Vital Radiance Hair Mask by Purederm.
Available from most pharmacies, Sundrelle Ltd Ireland and eBay, from £4.90
Once you are finished with your pampering skin session make sure to apply a good moisturiser. Tarte Cosmetics have a fantastic range of skincare from their Rainforest of the Sea range which you should check out if you are looking to try something new.
