What girl doesn’t love a bargain, even more so when it’s beauty related. I myself am a self confessed makeup and beauty junkie. If it states it will make me look 10 years younger, have the longest fullest lashes or will make me look like a Victoria’s Secret angel then I’m sold! Not to mention any pretty packaging if it looks good, then i’m going to try it.
I stumbled across the MUA Makeup Academy stand in my local Superdrug around about a year ago and was immediately attracted to the array of colours of lipsticks and glosses and the pretty makeup palettes. On closer inspection after trying a few colours on my hand when I glanced at the price my knees nearly buckled, £1! that can’t be right I thought to myself and when I enquired to my delight it was confirmed that these glossy on trend black fabulous looking lipsticks where in fact £1. You can’t even buy a cup of coffee these days for that. I snapped up pretty much every colour and made my way to the checkouts. Would they be of any good quality? Usually something priced at a £1 would be crap but I didn’t care, the colours looked great and pretty much any lipstick will last with a good primer.
Offering shades in every colour imaginable from red, pink and nudes to more daring purple and black there is a colour for everyone. They surprisingly have lots of pigmentation that delivers a lovely even colour no matter the shade. They are very easy applied and the little transparent pot of lipstick on the end not only shows the colour inside but offers extra lip colour which is a nice addition (I only discovered these screw off after about a month!) Just make sure you have a little retractable lip brush with you if you plan on using them. They do help seal in the colour and enable longer periods between applications when you brush on the lipstick this way over the top of what you have applied.
The texture of the lipsticks I have tried so far are all really nice and creamy apart from obviously the matte lipstick which can be quite drying but I use a little lipbalm first before I apply it. I find the colour usually lasts around about 2-3 hours by which time I probably have naturally wiped some off, had a drink and something to eat. If you are looking for a colour that lasts all day without re-application then you may be a little disappointed but however if you do use a good primer you will get longer wear out of them. But for £1 really you aren’t going to get a better bargain than this for a lipstick that has such good quality.
My favourite shades are 2, 3, 4, 5, 11, 13, 14, 15 and matte totally nude but they are regularly adding more colours that I am yet to try them all. I find the hot pinks, red and nudes do sell out quite quickly in-store so I usually just order in bulk online when I am running low.
Available in most Superdrug stores and superdrug online and also available direct from MUA’s website muastore.co.uk
Now go grab yourself a bargain, your lips will thank you for it!
