I was kindly sent the new tanning mousse by Norvell who are the tan behind Strictly Come Dancing.
For anyone who watches Strictly they will know all the dancers look tanned, shimmery and gorgeous and that’s all down to Norvell’s tanning range, so I was definitely excited to try their new light-weight velvety mousse.

Soooo lets now get right to the tanning!
First things first always exfoliate your skin prior to tanning. This is a crucial step in your tanning prep. Exfoliating gets rid of dead skin cells, removes any stubborn lingering tan and then leaves your skin healthy and smooth and ready for application. Always moisturise and I do recommend shaving and exfoliating the night before you tan or a good few hours before. If you shave after you apply your tan it will only strip some of the tan away and can leave it patchy. Not a good look for anyone.
The new Norvell tanning mousse has a primer in it so this will definitely help with keeping a streak free finish. Make sure you grab yourself a tanning mitt – you don’t want your hands covered in tan!
Always give the bottle a good shake to distribute everything evenly and then put a few pumps of mousse onto the mitt and apply in circular motions to make sure you don’t miss anywhere. Be careful around ankles and knees as you can get a build up of tan there, so I always put a tiny layer of Vaseline on my knees and ankles before application.
Norvells mousse pumped really easily from the bottle and was able to glide on my skin and blended well. What I did notice was once it dried it did leave a slight oily finish to my skin but it did feel moisturising. This wouldn’t be a tan I would put on in the morning and wear to work I would definitely apply the night before or when you have a good few hours in the house.
Fragrance wise it had a slight fragrance, it was quite a sweet smell but by no means over-powering and not like the normal tell tale smell of tans you would get from other brands.
Once I left the tan to dry for a few minutes I put on loose clothing, this is something I always do when I apply tan and you shouldn’t put on any socks as this will just give you a line.
The next morning my tan had developed amazingly and you can see from the before and after photos below just how well the tan developed. It was an even application and my skin felt very moisturised, however I still applied moisturiser after my shower. Moisturising every day is key to making your tan last longer.
My legs had quite a few bruises on them from intense gym sessions but the tan disguised these really well. I only did one application as I knew the colour would go quite dark for me. However if you love having a very dark tan then wait an hour after first application and then apply a second coat.
My tan lasted 4 days before starting to fade and it did fade naturally and I wasn’t left with any patchiness which impressed me. Overall I found the tan to be very easy to apply and it gave an even application. The colour developed to a very deep tan on my skin, probably a little bit too dark for my everyday use but that is down to my fair skin and being blonde and leaving the tan on overnight developing. For anyone with fair skin using this I would recommend leaving it on for maybe just 6 hours the first time of use rather than overnight to begin with just to see the colour depth and whether or not you would like a darker colour and leave on longer.
