Since Tinseltown’s awards season was all done and dusted, there was a huge fashion lull in my life, so you can imagine I was giddy with anticipation at the return of last nights Met Gala.
With the theme being “Manus x Machina” celebrating fashion in the age of technology, I knew it was bound to attract the glitzy, dazzling and downright ridiculous and boy was I not disappointed. Read on for my round up on the best dressed, my not so sure list and what should have stayed at home.
Gigi Hadid looked stunning in her Tommy Hilfiger gown which showed off her supermodel physique to perfection and her $2000 gold manicure perfected the look (yes $2000! you heard me right, but then it is Gigi its allowed)
Anna Ewers certainly worked the futuristic theme in this shiny Jason Wu gown.
Cindy Crawford, damn girl you still have got it! This Balmain gown was made for her.
Hailey Baldwin looks a mega star in her Tommy Hilfiger bespoke gown. Loving the long sleeves.
Kylie Jenner looks exquisite in her Balmain gown and jewels by friend of the family Lorraine Schwartz. Her hair is so chic in this short bob and overall one of the most mature looks I have seen on her. Top marks Kylie.
Also sporting a chic bob, Jourdan Dunn wowed in her metallic high neck, long sleeved Balmain gown.
Poppy Delevingne went very old Holywood glamour in this Marchesa dress.
Bringing the sparkle was Ciara in a custom H&M gown.
Loving Stella Maxwell in this sparkly custom-made dress by Topshop.
Zendaya oozes understated glamour in a Michael Kors Collection gown.
Beyoncé’s nude latex number by Givenchy with 100-carats of Lorraine Schwartz jewels certainly should have got everyone talking but it was the absence of Jay Z on the red carpet that had everyone distracted.
Karlie Kloss wore a Brandon Maxwell gown with sexy cutouts on the red carpet and after a little spillage of red wine decided to take a pair of scissors to it, transforming it into a mini dress to make it party worthy.
Rosie Huntington-Whitely played it surprisingly safe in a white Ralph Lauren gown. She looked beautiful, but I would have liked to have seen her in something a little edgier as she has the look and figure to pull that off.
Hot mamas to be Emily Blunt & Olivia Wilde, both wearing Michael Kors Collection gowns, looked sensational on the red carpet and I think they both had the best dressed bumps of the night.
Alexa Chung maintained her edgier style by arriving in a custom-made Thakoon jewelled tuxedo. I love how she kept her makeup simple and sleeked back hair and just let her outfit do the talking.
Showing less is more in nothing other than a beautiful black bespoke Topshop gown was Taylor Hill. Who said you need thousands of sequins to make a statement anyway.
This Versace laser-cut gown is beautiful on Kendall Jenner, however I can’t help but think it would be more suitable for a Cannes Film Festival than the Met Gala. I’m getting a more holiday vibe off it.
I am still undecided on this Zac Posen gown worn by Claire Danes. It accentuates her tiny frame beautifully, but to me it just screams Oscars rather than the fashion camps main event.
I love Bella Hadid’s Givenchy gown, I just don’t like the thigh high cut-out boots with it.
Normally Sienna Miller looks so polished at a black tie event but this gown by Gucci is coming across too Ferrero rocher wrapper to me. I think its the big bow on front, too much.
Lily-Rose Depp poses for the first time at the Met Gala in a Chanel dress and bomber jacket looking well beyond her 16 years of age. Stunning dress just not sure if its a bit too mature for the teen.
Kate Upton in a custom made gown by Topshop. I have no idea why, but this just reminds me of Stiflers Mum (sorry!)
Amy Schumer is a beautiful curvy woman, but in this ill-fitting Alexander Wang dress just looks so uncomfortable. I think there where better options out there for the actress.
Sporting a Louis Vuitton dress and chunky inspired doc martins and messy hair I was very disappointed in Michelle Williams look of the night. She really looked like she chucked on the first thing she found in her wardrobe as an after thought.
Kristen Stewart resembled a frumpy extra in an 80s pop video in this Chanel number. You are in your twenties girl, stop dressing like Bet Lynch.
Miranda Kerr normally never gets it wrong but her gothic Louis Vuitton dress did nothing for her. I like her Christian Louboutin heels though.
Katy Perry is just trying too hard in this Prada gown. The dress would probably have looked so much better without the gloves and belts and the severe makeup and hair just add to the travesty.
Its Big Bird! Wait, its Solange Knowles in a dress by David LaPort. I think she needs to return this to Sesame Street immediately.
Clearly Dakota Johnson, Florence Welch and Charlotte Casiraghi are trying to reform Abba. Why else would they go out in these ensembles by Gucci’s Alessandro Michele. Just hideous.
What in gods name is this monstrosity Madonna is wearing. No words.
Gaga, well being Gaga. Dressed in Versace and resembling a computer’s motherboard. Enough said. She had been donning a more subdued fashion sense as of late, but that looks to be all in the past as she is back to her whacky best.
And there you have it, that’s my round up of the best and worst dressed. What are your thoughts, do you agree or disagree I would love to hear what you think.
